CLTP’s Texas 85th Legislative Session Priorities

Clear Lake Tea Party welcomes your request for our input and are looking forward to working closely with the newly formed Freedom Caucus of Texas. Please let us know how we can help you. We have listed our legislative priorities below and have noted with each one the Principles from the RPT Platform which we believe that priority points to and which we expect our elected officials to uphold. The Freedom Caucus, thankfully, is filled with our Texas Representatives who understand and approve of the RPT Platform. It never hurts to remind the ones who don’t. Please contact us if you have questions or comments for the Clear Lake Tea Party Board. We look forward to being called upon for whatever support you require.

  1. Abolition of Abortion in TexasRep Tinderholt’s HB 948

We believe in : The sanctity of innocent human life, created in the image of God, should be protected from fertilization to natural death.

The most innocent of life deserves the protection of their fellow man and countrymen

  1. Protecting Religious Liberty – Including protection of the right not to violate one’s conscience – providing services to same sex “marriage” ceremonies and transgender accommodation. Pastors must be protected from forced testimony and their sermons shielded from government subpoena power.
  2. We believe in : “The laws of nature and nature’s God” and we support the strict adherence to the original intent of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitutions of the United States and of Texas.
We believe in: Personal accountability and responsibility.

We believe in: Self sufficient families, founded on the traditional marriage of a natural man and a natural woman.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. 1st amendment rights must be protected for our citizens.

  1. Property Tax Reform – which must be preceded by legislative address of public school financing.

We believe in: “The laws of nature and nature’s God” and we support the strict adherence to the original intent of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitutions of the United States and of Texas.dd

Private property rights are embedded in the Constitution and in the hearts of Americans. The debt created by entities grasping at controlling our property taxes is unsustainable.

  1. Bond Transparency and Elections for those bonds to be held at the General Election and Remove the “Rolling Polling” option for School Districts– Municipal and School District Bonds pushed by corporations and lobbyists using tactics which are confusing to taxpayers. Information should be provided not only about the items covered on that bond but also for the amount of the debt already incurred and the total debt after the bond is approved, including interest.  Bond transparency is an important piece of addressing public school financing.

We believe in: “The laws of nature and nature’s God” and we support the strict adherence to the original intent of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitutions of the United States and of Texas.

We believe in: Having an educated population, with parents having the freedom of choice for the education of their children.ist

Trustees are trained by corporate lobbyists and the same corporations fund the PaCS which push the bonds. This must stop. The debt we are leaving to the following generations is unsustainable

  1. Border Security/Immigration Enforcement – Includes refugee resettlement, sanctuary city ban, the ending of social welfare magnets, mandate of e-verify for government and the private sector.

We believe in: Americans having the right to be safe in their homes, on their streets, and in their communities; and the unalienable right to defend themselves.

We believe in: Preserving American and Texas sovereignty and freedom.

A nation or a state without control of its borders will have a difficult time protecting the sovereignty which protects its citizens. We should know who is in our neighborhoods and our cities and on our roads.

  1. Transportation Reform – Toll cessation (toll removed when road is paid for), stop system financing in order to prevent perpetual taxation, stop diversion so gas taxes and all public road funds are used for non-toll roads only.

We believe in: A free enterprise society unencumbered by government interference or subsidies.

Texans pay for infrastructure and perpetual taxation is not a Texas value. Texans also should own outright the roads we pay for with our taxes.

  1. Election Integrity – Reforms set forth by both Dr. Laura Pressley and Sen. Bob Hall

We believe in: “The laws of nature and nature’s God” and we support the strict adherence to the original intent of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitutions of the United States and of Texas.

We believe in: Preserving American and Texas sovereignty and freedom.

Only citizens of our state and our nation must be allowed to vote in our elections. And the integrity of those elections must be unquestionable

  1. Secure the Texas Grid

We believe in: Preserving American and Texas sovereignty and freedom.

We trust Texas and Texans to protect our citizens from the damage caused by EMPs whether natural or attacks by another country.

  1. Dallas and Harris County Dept of Education  – abolish the power to levy property taxes and bonds (the last 2 in the state to have that power to levy)

We believe in: A free enterprise society unencumbered by government interference or subsidies.

Taxation must be brought before the taxpayers for approval. The unsustainable debt levels will be a burden on future generations.
